The agriculture sector is vital in sustainable and inclusive
economic growth in India, as most of the population's
livelihood depends on it. The Green Revolution in agriculture
boosted national food security and reduced poverty.
Moreover, India has achieved a considerable increase in the
production of oilseeds (Yellow revolution), milk (White
revolution), fish (Blue revolution), and fruits and vegetables
(Golden revolution). The National Agricultural Research
System (NARS) was imperative in this influential and
successful progress. However, the agricultural sector still
faces many challenges. The country's small and fragmented
land holdings are the most significant challenge in adopting
modern agricultural production technologies. The effects of
present climate changes on agriculture and allied sectors are
expected to intensify over the coming years. Natural
resources like soil and water are becoming scarce
commodities, making agriculture more vulnerable to climate
change. The burgeoning population in the country increases
the pressure on agriculture production and productivity with
the limited land resources. India has one of the world's largest
and institutionally most complex agricultural research
systems. The present scenario necessitates innovation and
modern thoughts in agricultural research and education. At
the same time, the modern technologies developed as
research outputs should meet the farmers' demands in
realizing the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The national conference on Stepping Up Agricultural
Research and Education for Next Generation: Researchers
Perspectives is designed to prepare the researchers for next
generation agricultural research. The main objective of the
conference is to derive the recommendations to reform
organizational set up, research planning and monitoring,
assessment and recruitment of researchers etc in tune to
develop the next generation technologies for enhanced
agricultural production.
Agricultural Research Service Scientists' Forum (ARSSF) is a registered society representing the scientists of ICAR and has been instrumental in creating a friendly research atmosphere for scientists. The ARSSF has been instrumental in taking up policy issues impacting the welfare of the scientific community and provides a formal link with the ICAR. The Forum has contributed significantly towards creating a conducive and enabling research environment in the system to attain the mandated objectives in consonance with the national priorities. The proposed conference is a testimony to its commitment towards agriculture development and the farming community. It has been credited with evolving logical conclusions and effective policies through the timely representation of scientific community issues to the higher authorities. It also strives to create and maintain a research ambience for developing farmers' friendly location-specific technologies.

Hyderabad in late July experiences a mix of monsoon rains and warm temperatures. The city's historic sites, like Charminar and Golconda Fort, are vibrant under cloudy skies. Local markets bustle with activity, offering aromatic biryanis and rich textiles. Lush greenery flourishes, creating a picturesque backdrop for this culturally rich city.
